THE STORY OF SUNSET CAMPERS

The summer of 2020 is certainly a memorable one for us all, and here at Sunset Campers it is even more so – this is the summer it all began.

We’re a small family run business, when I say family run I mean Richard! Richard has been in the production and development side of the motor industry since 1999, he knows the ins and outs of vehicles very well. He started ‘messing’ around with cars with his dad in his early teens and built his first kit car back in 2004, a mere 21 year old. Since then he has rebuilt numerous kit cars for himself and friends.

As children, both Richard and his wife Lucy enjoyed camping holidays with their families. As a ‘grown up’ Lucy bought her first campervan – a 1998 VW T4 Caravelle, which she converted into a camper to use with her young children. Richard’s love of Campervans started a little later in 2015 when he started working on his father in laws VW T5. It had been converted by a conversion company, but sadly it turned out a lot of the work was not as it seemed and Richard slowly started to rectify the issues with the van. Ever the perfectionist, he can’t stand to see anything less than a perfect job!

2020 saw changes at work for Richard which set the Sunset Campers wheels in motion. So far we’ve had a number of very satisfied customers leave the workshop. Combining his experience in motor mechanics and DIY with his meticulous attention to detail is proving very successful. We want to work with you to get it right first time so that everyone can enjoy their vans as much as we do. From talking through your vision to planning and producing the finished article you won’t be disappointed in a Sunset Campers Conversion. So far, there has been a number of satisfied customers leaving the workshop.

  • I purchased my second VW Transporter van for conversion into a ‘Day Van’ in the late Spring of 2020. Looked around for potential conversion companies before selecting the newly formed Sunset Campers located near Bromsgrove.Met with Richard and explained what I wanted. Between us a specification was developed and quickly resourced and priced. The spec included a lifting roof and a toilet, sink and cooker together with four seats and a central table. I thought all this in a SWB Transporter would be a big ask but Richard, to his credit, accepted the challenge. I wanted to used the van from late Summer onwards, a testing schedule I thought.The outcome, that the conversion was completed to schedule, price and I am enjoying using the van is testament to Sunset Campers diligence, quality and determination to meet agreed customer needs.Derek Pearson
